COVID-19: I am willing to risk my life to feed my family — Umar dares El-Rufai

Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai
It's getting crazier every passing day as Nigerians, especially those most affected by the current lockdown, are summoning the courage to violate government’s 'Stay at Home' directive in a bid to halt the spread of covid-19 in the country.

There has been public outcry due to the Buhari government’s failure to meet up to expectations after promising to provide palliatives in order to ease the sufferings of Nigerians.

National Pivot previously reported about a Buhari supporter from Kaduna State, who took to Twitter to express his disappointment at both the State and Federal Government over their handling of relief materials meant to cushion the effects of the COVID-19 lockdown.

The Kaduna State Government had spent N500 million on food items to be shared to the poor across the State. But Mr Abubakar who said he visited one of the sites where these food items were being shared, was left in shock and had no choice but to shed tears.

He said, "I'm sorry for those that depends on govt help. My state announced they bought food items of N200m to distribute to masses. I shade tears as I went there to see. After long a queue, a man with 3 wives 13 children was given 1 sachets of indomie and a cup of rice. Where is the help?"

Another Kaduna resident, Aliyu Musa Umar, who seemed to be struggling to cater for his family under the current lockdown and curfew put in place by Governor Nasir El-Rufai, said in a post he shared on a Facebook group, APC AGENDA, that he is willing to put his life on the line in order to feed his family than stay home and starve.

The post which he wrote in Hausa, says, "Babu Uban da ya isa ya hanani fita ne man Abinci Gobe Baku bani ba dan haka baku isa Ku hanani fita ba sai dai Ku kashe ni wlh.

When translated into English, it says, "No one born of a woman can stop me from going out to work tomorrow so I can feed my family. Since you gave me no food, so you can't stop me from going out even if you'll have to kiII me."

While there's restriction of movement in the State, people still violate the 'Stay at Home' and the governor warned that covid-19 cases in the state could hit over 50,000 if people continue to disobey government’s directives.
