Stop sending me condolence messages — Sanusi's daughter warns followers

Dethroned Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, and his daughter Kadija Sanusi
The daughter of the former Emir of Kano, Khadija Sanusi, has warned her followers to stop sending her condolences over the dethronement of her father.

Moments before Sanusi’s dethronement was made public, Khadija alluded to it by taking to Twitter to quote her father, in response to a tweet that said, “Muhammadu Sanusi, Emir of Kano, once said?”

Khadija, in a series of now deleted tweets, said, “Can you people please stop sending me ‘Innallillahi wa Inna ilayhir raji’ un’ (from God we came, to God we shall return) and ‘my condolences’? We did not d*e.

“Explain to me how I’ve been the one consoling my friends. I’m like ‘I’m sorry.’ Allah ne yaso. Insha Allah hakan yaafi alheri. (That’s how his God wants it to happen. By God’s grace, it will be for good.) Just expect an invoice because I’m charging for these therapy sessions.”

Meanwhile, Sanusi had accepted his dethronement as the Emir of Kano in good fate, calling on the people of the state to remain calm.

He also pray that God should help the new emir to lead well.

He said, “The throne of an emir is not permanent, every king and leader should know this, If it were a permanent throne, I wouldn’t have been the emir of Kano”.

He added, “Before I came, someone was the emir and before him someone else was there, therefore, it’s nothing that would shock anybody.”

“Whenever God says your time on the throne is over, if you don’t leave with your legs, people will carry your body out of the palace.”

“Any person who succeeds me should be accepted by the people of Kano so he can end well.

“God does not make a mistake, whatever he gives is the best, and today don’t be disturbed, whatever thing that God started, it is the end we hope for and may God help this to end well.

“We thank the entire Muslims who have been supporting us year by year, the entire people of Kano and may God help them to continue to live in peace. May God give us a good leader and give our land back to us.
