Nigeria is in autopilot with no leader, says Secondus

Opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has again called out President Muhammadu Buhari to wake up from slumber and halt the dangerous slide in all sectors in the country.

Addressing a press conference in Abuja on the state of the nation, the PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus lamented that the country is almost on autopilot as no one appears to be leading the nation.


He declared that all over the world leaders are giving their people hope with the coronavirus pandemic but same has not happened in Nigeria where the government is contemplating increasing the country’s debt profile and increasing taxes.

He described the debt profile of Nigeria’s as huge and unserviable and asked the federal government to revert to the former Value Added Tax, VAT, rate of five percent because of the oil price crash and coronavirus scourge.

Secondus, who said that the President Mohammadu Buhari-led APC Administration has failed, added that no segment of the nation is in good shape.




The PDP national chairman further lampooned the administration over the recent dethronement of the former Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.

Secondus who decried the management of the country under the Buhari-administrarion, said
 the twin evils of bribery and corruption have continued to reign supreme in the nation’s public and private lives, adding that strategic institutions have been bedeviled by varying degree of corrupt practices.

“We in PDP have our genuine fears that this government and its managers lack the needed capacity to lift us out of the wood because we got into it abnitio due to their incapacity.



“But that notwithstanding the regime should be sensitive to the plight of the suffering masses of the country by reviewing downwards various draconian policies like the various tax regimes especially the Value Added Tax VAT that affects every goods and services.

“The government should avoid pouring fuel to an already burning inferno with their reckless and lawless attitude to human rights issues which worsens situation and exposes the country to further ridicule.

“When you depose a traditional ruler and deprives him and his family of their fundamental human rights and in less than 24 hours the United Nation gives him an exalted appointment, it says a lot how you are rated globally,” he said.
