Tinubu is not of any particular interest to Buhari — Garba Shehu

National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been the subject of controversy for a number of reasons including the bullion van saga of 2019.



While opinions on Tinubu continue to differ, a large chunk of Nigerians see the former governor of Lagos State as one of many political leaders in the country who are corruption personified, but who jump around claiming to be saints.

Of particular interest to Nigerians, is the bullion vans Tinubu admitted as his, and how the Buhari administration which claims to be on a mission to rid Nigeria of corruption, handles the issues.


While some believe the Buhari administration will bury Tinubu’s corruption case until it has a valid reason to put Tinubu to the sword, Some see Tinubu’s bullion vans as a stern test to the government of anti-corruption.

Meanwhile, the Buhari presidency in a statement by its Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Garba Shehu, denied claims that the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu has been placed on security watch by President Muhammadu Buhari.




“We wish to confirm without any equivocation that Tinubu is not of any particular interest to any arm of the security services,” Garba said in a statement.

“The relationship between him and the President can not be better than it is at the moment."



The spokesman said any rumor claiming the Buhari administration is after Tinubu, is unfounded, and should be disregarded by the public.

“I got on the phone a short while ago with the National Security Adviser and the Director General of the SSS, who both dismissed the reports as acts of pure mischief.


“They are not aware of Tinubu being on any kind of watch," he said.
