Just In: US Government website taken down following attack by Iranian hackers

The United States' recent attack on top Iranian military General, has raised tension across the world as many fear of the likelihood of an escalated conflict.



Iran did not hide its intentions to retaliate despite calls for both countries to exercise restraint. While it is still unclear how Iran plans to carryout its reprisal attack, the US has been put on a high alert with Trump warning any such move by Iran would spell doom for the middle east country.

Now, a recent report said a group claiming to represent the Government of Iran has hacked a website operated by the United State Government, according to Daily Mail UK.


The website which is said to be operated by the little-known Federal Depository Library Program, fdlp.gov, was hacked and defaced on Saturday, and has been taken offline.

A message from the hackers left on the website read, “In the name of god. Hacked By Iran Cyber Security Group Hackers. This is only small part of Iran's cyber ability! We're always ready.”




The FDLP is a program created to make government’s publications available to the public at no cost.

Security experts have already warned that cyber attacks could be part of Iran's retaliation for the U.S. airstrike on Friday which took out Iran's Revolutionary Guard General, Qassem Soleimani.



Iran's state-backed hackers are among the world's most aggressive and could inject malware that triggers major disruptions to America’s public and private sectors.

National Pivot reported earlier, that the Iranian government had on Sunday, said the United States' White House is within reach, and could be taken down should Iran so desired following warning of retaliation by President Donald Trump.


The warning was issued by Iranian MP, Abolfazl Abutorabi during an open session of parliament in Tehran, Iran, the country’s Labour News Agency reports.
