While the debate on whether or not Christmas is biblical rages on, there lies one of the world's most controversial President from the South Eastern country of the Philippines, who thinks Jesus' crucifixion was a sign of weakness rather than an act of love.
According to the Express, Duterte in a bizarre rant, said, “Your God was nailed on the cross. F**k! How unimpressive. “I’m God and you will crucify me?! Motherf**ker. I’d tell them ‘Lightning, finish all of them. Burn all the non-believers.”
“You’re already praying at one God, then you’re going to pray at these cursed saints. There’s only one God.”
The leader has long been a critic of the Catholic church and has even said in 2015 that he was molested by a priest when he was young.
He has frequently attacked the Vatican, provoking repeated condemnation from the Christian community worldwide.
He once refereed to the Catholic Church as "the most hypocritical institution”.
He also called Pope Francis a "son of a whore" during the pontiff's visit to the Philippines in January 2015 which saw the leader blame him for the traffic congestion it caused.
Meanwhile, Christians in Nigeria are left infuriated with a deliberate attempt meant to spoil their Christmas celebration. At a time where the world is celebrating the birth of the Messiah, Jesus Christ, then comes statements from revered pastors in the country, condemning the celebration saying Christmas is unbiblical. These and many other controversies according to some Christians, is the very reason the Christian faith is dying.
