Keyamo under fire for denying supporting rearrest of Sowore in court

The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Mr. Festus keyamo (SAN), has denied justifying the re - arrest of Omoyele Sowore, the convener of the #RevolutionNowMovement last Friday by the Department of State Services DSS.

There were reports on social media that Keyamo said a person could be arrested anywhere including a courtroom.

He was quoted as saying, “There is nothing constitutionally wrong with rearresting Sowore in courtroom, an offender can be captured anywhere.”

But reacting on his official twitter handle on Tuesday, Keyamo said he never made such a statement even as he stated that fake news had become a threat to Nigeria.

He tweeted, “Fake news with no link. The unfortunate ones have fallen for it. As usual, there would be no apologies to me. Life goes on. It’s freedom of speech!”

Despite his denial, many of his followers on the social media demanded to know his position on the controversial rearrest of Sowore as he remain silent about it.

@Chimaxstanley1 tweeted, “Since Friday you haven’t spoken anything about that the Sss did even as a Legal practitioner of your state too bad sir.”

@great _khaly also tweeted, “I know you will never say this sir, but please kindly tell us your position on Sowore’s attempted arrest in a court of law.”

@Truthfully83, "you have sold your soul to the devil. Even if it was real or fake, nobody will believe your own side of the story. We all know what you are capable of doing. I rest my case for now, but i will release a video of you tomorrow, why Nigerians will never believe you.

@tobbyenoch, "But em Oga Festus, why haven't you said anything about this whole thing? Are you no longer a human rights activist? With the way you have gone "peem 🤫" on this, seems you agree with what the DSS are doing.

@okeke12197711, "Haba Keyamo even u, a self acclaimed human right fighter a senior advocate of Nigeria joined d bandwagon of common jobbers who think everything is well even if it means invading our hallowed court room and chased away a judge of federal high court. What a shame
