Fani-Kayode made the remark while reacting to comment by the acting Chairman of Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, Alhaji Musa Liman Kwande, that Northerners will vote for only a presidential candidate of northern origin in 2023 irrespective of the political party because they are tested and trusted.
He said, “I am expressing my opinion as a full-pledged Northerner and a citizen of Nigeria and not that of ACF”, he said.
“Northern Nigerians who are tested and trusted should contest for any political office with anybody from any part of Nigeria and the people should exercise their democratic franchise to vote for their candidate of choice.”
But reacting on his official twitter handle on Monday, Fani-Kayode lamented that the alleged cowardice of Southern leaders gave Kwande the basis to make such comments.

He tweeted, the former Minister wrote: “In 2023 people from the northern part of the country will vote for a presidential candidate from that region irrespective of the party – Musa Liman, Acting Chairman of ACF.
