2023 Presidency: All parties should pick Igbo presidential candidates if Nigeria will remain one, says Anozie

Anozie, the Ezendigbo of Ibadan and Oyo State, on Tuesday said if Nigeria will still remain a country with conscience, all political parties should pick their presidential candidates from the Southeast in 2023.

Anozie, who is also a member of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Association of Ezendigbos in the Diaspora, stated this while speaking with Daily Independent at his Ososami, Ibadan palace.



The Ezendigbo of Ibadan and Oyo State, who was apparently reacting to the clamour by the North to retain Presidency beyond 2023, maintained that the only way to move Nigeria forward peacefully, a President from the Igbo extraction should be allowed to succeed incumbent President Muhammodu Buhari.

His words: “Come 2023, let us agree and call on all our political parties to scout for their respective presidential candidates from South East only. Each political party would pick one person from any part of the Southeast. The whole country will then vote and make their choice out of them.




“When Southeast finishes the usual two terns in office, by then the North, the Southwest, South South, and Southeast would have taken their turns in getting to that position of service. We can then decide to change the system to only one term Presidency of only six years. No second term.”
