When will this nonsense end? — Sani reacts to importation of Prayer Warriors by Northern Governors

A new trend has emerged as Northern leaders seek solution to its persisting insecurity challenges.

Not until Buhari replaced Jonathan as President in 2015, the North has had Boko Haram terrorists as its major problem until the arrival of bandits and Kidnappers. The security situation spiraled to a disturbing level, leaving Governors struggling with options even to the point of negotiating with bandits.

However, just when you think negotiating with bandits is bad enough, then comes the news of government going spiritual with plans of contracting some so-called "Prayer Warriors" from Saudi Arabia to help tackle the insecurity challenges facing the region.

The decision of the concerned Northern governors to ply spiritual paths over its insecurity problems, came on the heels of call by the Nigerian Army which also held a conference on seeking spiritual solutions to the menace of insurgency, especially attacks by Boko Haram.

Senator Sani who is a fervent critic of the Buhari administration has picked issues with the choice of going spiritual as a way to go in addressing the security challenges facing the country.

Sani wonders why a government which sees nothing wrong in banning importation of valuable food items into the country, would now go after foreign prayer warriors in an absurd claim of tackling insecurity. He said as absurd as it is to think going spiritual is a viable solution to tackling insecurity in the country, why not patronize the many prayer warriors we have in the country instead of contracting foreigners?

He tweets "Since prayer is now the latest security and defense strategy and policy, Patronize Nigerian prayer warriors and not Saudi Prayer warriors; Our local content patriotism should not be limited to Nigerian Rice."

How it doesn't occur to Nigerian leaders that godless countries were able to provide effective security without the need of "prayer warriors", is highly appalling. But like it has been said countless times, "bring God into the matter, and Nigerians lose common sense".
