It is the World's Food Day and like other prominent leaders in the Nigeria and across the world, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar who was a former vice president and candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the last presidential election, has emphasized the need to promote "mass food production" and "large-scale commercial agricultural production" in other to combat unemployment and hunger in the country.
The former vice president however, added that it is not enough to be self-sufficient in food production, but most importantly, the people should be able to buy the food items they need.
Speaking via a post shared on his Facebook page, Atiku said, "It is not only desirable for us to promote mass food production, food security and large-scale commercial agricultural production. One thing I hold dearest and always done is ensure that Nigerians have jobs and an income to buy food to feed their families."
