Buhari condemns attacks on Nigerians in South Africa. |
The Xenophobic attacks against Nigerians in South Africa has reached a tipping point as Nigerians vowed to retaliate should the Buhari administration fail to take decisive actions to bring an end to the nonsense meted against its own citizens South of the African continent.
The situation was even made worse after reports claimed that Nigerians at the receiving end of the attacks were denied access to the Nigerian embassy in South Africa in other register their displeasure.
At last however, the president has finally taken a step according to a post shared via his Official Facebook page.
President Mohammadu Buhari said he's sending a "Special Envoy" to the South African President to share his deep concern "over the security of Nigerian lives and property in the South African nation.
He said, "I am sending a Special Envoy to President Ramaphosa to share our deep concern about the security of Nigerian lives and property in South Africa, and to ensure that the South African Government is doing everything within its power in this regard."
Buhari's hesitation on the issue has already generated condemnations from prominent Nigerians. Some even alleging that the president’s timidity is due to the fact that majority of those being attacked are from the southeastern part of the country.
