VAT: Buhari wants to rob Peter to pay Paul — Sani laments

The recent move by the Buhari administration to increase VAT from 5% to 7.5% is still generating reactions across board with many saying it is yet another decision which truly reflects the evil APC represents.

One would think the outrage generated by Buhari's policies typically originates from the 'wailing' camp, but we reported yesterday that even Buhari's ardent base are beginning to question the President's actions saying it does not reflect the expectations of the masses.

One supporter of the Buhari administration even wondered why the president is doing so much to ensure banned products are prevented from being smuggled into the country, but the same government is yet to end the spate of insecurity ravaging the country for years.

While the lamentation rages on, one of Buhari's former buddy turned critic, Senator Shehu Sani, unsurprisingly joined the list of critics who think the upward review of VAT by the Buhari administration is an act of robbery. Sani described the decision as a clever scheme meant to rob Peter to pay Paul.

He said, "Peter is for VAT, Paul is for new Minimum wage."

A facebook user with the name Saifullahi Lamido reacts by saying it took the President less than 24 hours to raise VAT by 50%, but the nation's new Minimum wage is still going through committees and panels.
