Pray for Sowore, he never knew what he was doing — Jonathan replies Omokri

Former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, has said that Jonathan was full of pity when he narrated to him the ordeal Omoyele Sowore is facing in the hands of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Sowore, the convener of ‘RevolutionNow’ protest and publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, has been in Department of State Services (DSS) detention, having been accused of treason.

Making the disclosure on his official twitter handle on Sunday, Omokri said the former president urged Nigerians to pray for Sowore, saying that he need help because he did not know what he was doing.

His words, "I just spoke to ex President @GEJonathan, and urged him to read my column in today's

titled ‘Sowore and Buhari: A Bromance Gone Sour!’"

"He responded, ‘Reno, pray for the young man. Help him if you can. He didn’t know what he was doing’."

"Is GEJ a human or an angel?"

Meanwhile, Global rights group, Amnesty International has accused President Muhammadu Buhari’s government of human rights abuse.

The group in a series of tweets on Saturday, condemned the trumped-up charges against the Sahara Reporters publisher, Omoyele Sowore.

It called on the government to immediately release him and drop all the charges.

It said, “Amnesty International condemns the bizarre charges pressed on activist Omoyele for expressing his views in media interviews.

“The trumped- up charges he is facing show an attempt by the Nigerian authorities to deprive him of his human rights.

“Sowore’s continued incarceration on the application of the Terrorism Act for exercising his right to freedom of expression is a misuse of the criminal system to silence dissent.

“We call on the Nigerian authorities to respect and protect the human rights of all persons without discrimination and ensure that it does not use its laws to justify violations of Sowore’s human rights.”
