PEPT Ruling: Jonathan deserves National Apology — Kakanda

The reactions are still coming and for understandable reasons. The recent Presidential Election Petition Tribunal's ruling against the People's Democratic Party’s candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has been seen by Nigerians as one of the most outrages dispensing of justice in the history of the country.

Critics argued that the ruling contradicts realities in the country especially in the case of unmatched names. That the Tribunal was willing to lower the bar to accommodate president Mohammadu Buhari thus shielding him from Atiku's petition, has according to critics, reduced the country to a joke.

Gimba Kakanda, a critic of former president Goodluck Jonathan and who alongside his likes, worked against Jonathan to help install Buhari as president, has said, former president Jonathan deserves a national apology if the Nigerian judiciary has to go so low just to do Buhari's bidding.

He also added in a separate tweet saying unlike others who chose to remain blind to reality, he would not be silent in the face of glaring failure by the government he worked for against the former president.

He said, "Former President Goodluck Jonathan truly deserves national apologies, from those who’ve lowered the bar for his successor."

But Kakanda is not alone in this, former Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, has similarly condemned the Tribunal's ruling saying that Buhari has reduced Nigeria to his level.
