Osinbajo will end up being disgracefully removed like Onnoghen — Adeyanju

Relation between the Southwest and the North is currently not in good shape if recent developments surrounding the place of vice president Yemi Osinbajo in the Buhari administration is anything to go by.

President Mohammadu Buhari's recent changes on who does what or fits into his next level agenda, has seen the vice president stripped of some of his powers to oversee certain agencies of the government including a place in the newly-constituted Presidential Economic Advisory Council.

The President's move though played down by the vice president himself who insisted that the president has good intentions for the country, has generated reactions across board with critics linking the President's action with the next 2023 presidential election. The southwest had hoped its liaise with the North to ensure Buhari's victory in the last two presidential elections, would earned it the privilege of producting the next president in 2023.

However, as things currently stand, both the west and northern forces are at loggerheads with each other, as non would back down for another despite an initial arrangement in the APC, suggesting the next president should come from the Southwest.

Feeling a sense of betrayal by the North, Southwest leaders are keeping watch on every move and schemes by the president and Norther powers who have made clear their intention to keep power in the North come 2023.

No surprises therefore, that stripping the vice president of some of his powers has obviously not gone down well with the Southwest who recently warned the North against reducing the vice president's influence ahead of 2023.

But Deji Adeyanju, a Human Rights Activist and convener of Concerned Nigerians, has said removing Osinbajo is not really something that difficult to do by the Buhari administration. He said if former CJN Onnoghen was disgracefully removed a few weeks to the last general elections, what else can the Buhari administration not do?

He said, "‪They are trying to remove Osinbajo. ‬‪It’s sounds unbelievable but nothing is beyond them. Who would have thought they could remove Onnoghen few weeks to the elections?"
