It is only in Nigeria that a bag of rice is more secured than human lives — Musa sobs

The ban is real, and you stand to spend 3 years jail term should you be found guilty of smuggling just a bag of rice into the country. That's right, that's how tight and serious the Nigerian custom is enforcing Buhari's ban directive on certain imported products into the country.

But it's not just about import ban though, the Buhari administration has also decided in favor of an upward review of the nation's Value Added Tax (VAT) from 5 percent, to 7.5 percent. That's about 50 percent increment, big enough to trigger outrage and condemnation even from the president’s loyal base.

The President in response to the outrage, assured Nigerians that all will be well, and that he remains committed to ending hardship in the country. But that won't stop people from talking through.

Umar Musa, a supporter of the Buhari administration is one of many Nigerians questioning Buhari's sense of judgment especially as it concerns important policy decisions. He wonders why Buhari struggles to provide security to Nigerians, but has his hands full on smugglers.

Musa who voiced his concern in a facebook group 'APC AGENDA', wrote in hausa saying it's only in Nigeria that a bag of rice has more security than human lives.

He said, "A Nigeria ne kawai aje ba shinkafa tsaro fiye da rayukan alumma!"
