Tokyo Conference: Buhari has reduced Nigeria to a petty country — Reno Omokri fumes

Reno Omokri says Nigeria is losing its dignity under the Buhari-led government.
President Mohammadu Buhari's recent trip to Japan to participate in the Seventh Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD7) holding in the City of Yokohama, may have become the latest talk in town due to threats by IPOB to apprehend and humiliate the president on arrival. But not everyone is seeing the president’s recent trip in the same light.

Since the arrival of the president in Japan yesterday Monday 26th August, there has been a few exchanges between IPOB and the presidential media team on the authenticity of images shared by the President's aides as proof of the President's arrival.

Reno Omokri however, refuses to be drawn into that side of the argument but would rather focus on Buhari's presence in a country whose Prime Minister prioritizes a G7 meeting than personally hosting the Nigerian president.

Omokri via a tweet, wondered why Buhari would visit a country whose leader does not attach any form of importance to his visit beside the actual reason for which Buhari is there in the first place. He said since Buhari knew his host will not be there to honor his arrival, the wise and logical thing to do would have been to delegate someone else in his place.

He said, "A serious leader, knowing that his host didn’t consider him important enough to be around when he visited, would have sent a minister to represent him. But General Mohammadu Buhari is SHAMELESS! Maybe he even thought the JUNIOR MINISTER was PM."

While Reno Omokri may have a point, there has been lots of talks about fear being the only reason Buhari would consider sending a representative instead of attending the conference himself. Whichever way you chose to see it, it can be argued that Buhari's decision to attend the conference in person may not be unconnected to reports that Biafran group has barred the president from international travels.

The Presidency may have decided to use the President's recent trip to prove a point that no one can stop the president from traveling out of the country.
