#RevolutionNow: More people arrested and venue sealed off by security operatives

RevolutionNow Protesters
RevolutionNow Protest against bad governance in the country may have generated some buzz since it began on August 5th, but the movement has struggled to gain significant traction due to the Buhari's administration resolve to thwart anything it considers a threat to the Buhari administration.

The Nigerian Security operatives who have been tasked with the responsibility of cracking down and arresting prominent voices and leaders of the RevolutionNow Protest, have once again took hold of the venue meant for the movement's planned symposium slated for today 19th August, 2019.

According to a report by Sahara Reporters, organizers of the symposium accuse policemen of arresting
" innocent bystanders in a bid to prevent the event from holding by hook or by crook."

According to the organizers of the symposium as reported by Sahara, security operatives including the Nigerian police and DSS have been at the venue since 7 am restricting movement into the venue and also arresting those who attempt to take pictures of the venue.

“A combined force of police, military, DSS, have sealed off the venue of our symposium. They took over by 7 am. They have started arresting innocent bystanders.

“This confirms again that everything foundation of our society is at risk. We must stand firm and say no to tyranny,” one of the organizers of the event told SaharaReporters.

Protest is a global practice and the right of all who feel aggrieved or disagree with government policies they feel is out of place or against the people. Why the Buhari's administration sees nothing wrong in its suppression of rights of Nigerians to free speech and protest against misrule in the country, is appalling.

The APC administration isn't only pitting itself against Nigerians, but also the international community through its human right violations. It is also giving Nigerians a greater reason to revolt if the Buhari administration continues to attack peaceful protesters whose only crime is to clamor for the change promised by the APC, but which they failed to deliver.
