Leadership failure has made Nigerians ashamed of their identity — Babangida

Babangida called on Nigerians to be proud of their identity.
When calls for peace and unity in the country becomes a daily routine, you know without being told, that the country is not in a good shape right now.

The recent attack on immediate past Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, has attracted condemnations from those in power, while the masses on the other hand, are divided on whether or not the attack was necessary despite acknowledging leadership failure in the country.

Former military president, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, who recently called on leaders to take Nigeria's diversity seriously and learn to manage it or step aside, has once again stressed the need for Nigerians to work toward the unity and survival of the country

He also expressed sadness that leadership failure in the country has made Nigerians no longer proud of their identity.

Babangida made the call while addressing newsmen during the celebration of his 78th birthday at his Uphill residence in Minna.

He said, “We do not have any other country except Nigeria, let us all work together, men and women, young and old, to make sure that this country survives.

“We need to work to ensure that the unity of this country is maintained and make sure we identify ourselves as Nigerians all the time,” he said.
