The country has been fractured, and you have the current administration to blame for it. This at least, is what former minister of external affairs Mr Bolaji Akinyemi suggested in his interview with the Nigerian Tribune.
Akinyemi said it is natural to react when pushed to the limit. He said Nigerians are beginning to feel the oppression, and can no longer bear it hence the reactions coming from them such as the call for a revolution and the recent attack on a high profile personality in the country.
He said, "You cannot continue to treat adults as though they are children who cannot tell their right from their left. It would get to a point where the people would fight back and then you would know that there is a limit to which government can actually oppress people. I mean Nigerians are not that unique, people fight back in the rest of the world.
“You have heard of the Arab Spring, was that not fighting back? You see what is happening in Hong Kong, is that not fighting back? You’ve heard of ‘Operation Wetie,’ it was within this very country.
“I am not calling our people goat, when you push a goat against the wall, goat is the most docile of all animals, but if you now push it against the wall, it would turn round and fight you.”
