Buhari is making it difficult to do the right thing — Melaye

Senator Dino Melaye said Buhari ignored request to submit nominees with portfolios.
Screening of Buhari's 'next level' ministerial nominees has since commenced in the preceding week, and continued today Monday 29th 2019, on the floor of the Nigerian Senate.

There has been mixed feelings by Nigerians who are not only discontent with the ministerial list submitted by the president, but also the president’s refusal to attach each nominee with a portfolio.

According to a report by Channels TV, Senator Dino Melaye revealed that requests were made by some members of the Senate requesting the president to submit the names of his Ministers with their portfolios, but which the president ignored. Dino lamented the fact that the house is forced to adopt a screening process that is more like an "adoption" since it's difficult to screen nominees without knowing their areas of expertise, and how it fits with offices they are meant to occupy.

He said, "The reason why we have these problems is because the President did not yield to the request of some of us from the National Assembly to submit the names of his Ministers with their portfolios. So we are actually shooting from the dark."

Melaye who seemed to have read the mood of Nigerians and their reactions on the whole screening process, said he will not be a part of a vague screening process that will mostly likely fail Nigerians in the end.

"On social media, I definitely know that Nigerians are not happy, especially with the way the proceeding of the screenings have been conducted. I can tell you that it's more of an adoption than a screening," the Kogi State Senator was quoted as Saying.

"I will not be part of a rubber stamp National Assembly or Senate as the case may be," he added.

Nigerians are being vary and are unsure if Buhari will get something right this time around following a horrible first term where he personally had to admit working with Ministers he doesn't even know.

Buhari's admission obviously came as a surprise since he had Nigerians waiting for months while he scours the country for what he called corruption free "technocrats".
