Kalu calls for arrest of INEC Chairman over server controversy

INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu
The Director-General of Atikulated Agenda Worldwide and one time gubernatorial aspirant in Abia State, Chief Emeka C. Kalu, has has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to order arrest of the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, over the commission’s server controversy.

Kalu made the call while reacting to the report of the European Union observer groups in Abuja.

In a statement signed by his Media and Publicity aide, Comr. Amos Kalu, he said every evidence available from public, private and government sectors indicated that Nigeria has been duped with an electoral system spearheaded by INEC to carry out the desire of a few cabals against the wishes of the Nigeria people.

“How can you explain the fact that an electoral umpire collected over N1 billion as budget to upgrade an existing server against 2019 General Elections only to shamelessly tell Nigerians that they only used it for experiment in Rivers, Ekiti etc? So what happened to the server that was used in 2015 that needed to be upgraded? Did it disappear into thin air for Yakubu …to tell Nigerians that a server does not exist?

“Based on their argument over the nonexistence of a server, did the experiment work in these states, if yes, why do you eventually set it aside when it was most needed for the purpose of a free and fair election? Which server did INEC use to carry out the experiments in the said states?”

“How can an establishment like INEC that is supposed to be epitome of integrity continue to speak from both sides of their mouth in lies without shame just to cover up their dubious and immoral act of rigging election in favor of an unpopular candidature,” he asked.

Chief Kalu lamented that after the revelations, Yakubu is still working free after he collected tax-payers’ money meant for the server upgrade but only allegedly turned around to manually manipulate the election result in favor of Buhari. Either way, Buhari should do the needful as a man fighting corruption in all sincerity.

“This is the time Buhari needs to prove to the world and Nigerians that he is actually fighting corruption and not witch-haunting opponents. Let him order EFCC to arrest and question Mahmood Yakubu over what happened to the money released to him to upgrade the server that he is claiming does not exist so that we will not assume that his silence is because the skewed system was manipulated.”
