Muhammad Al-Wahabi, 33 has been sentenced to death for farting in mosques during Ramadan. |
This is one of the many reasons anti-religious folks think religion is the greatest problem in the world. But just before you you ask why the weird start to this article, it's simply about a Muslim faithful whom a Pakistani judge sentenced to death for what they called "excessive farting" during the Ramadan period.
Prior to his sentence, report by the WNDR claims the man has been expelled 17 times from 6 different months. According to the report, the man's action which indisposed people of the faith and even caused 53 people at one time to leave the mosque during a prayer, can be labeled a blasphemy which according to Islamic law, is punishable by stoning.
It would be argued that matters should be left for Matthias (another way of saying one should mind his own business), but how this is not cruelty and unjustifiable considering there are many ways to deal with the issue without taking a life, is completely absurd.
In fact, the publication even claimed that the judge who tried to be a bit nice, offered the man two options with same death sentence, but with different severity. For example, the man can chose to be stoned, or simply be beheaded which according to the judge, is a bit more light and straightforward. At least, he won't have to endure so much pain as he succumbs to his injuries in the case of stoning. To cap it off, the judge says the man's sentence is "Allah’s will”.
Pakistan which is regarded as the second biggest Islamic country in the world, practices Sharia and is home to judgments like the one above. There has been cases of Christians killed for blasphemy. Whether or not you consider these judgments as barbaric is at best your personal opinion. But it's also the very reason religion is regarded as one of the world's biggest problems.
