The US had banned Huawei from doing business with the aforementioned and other US companies over a week ago on the same old "security threat" allegation levied against the Chinese company. The ban on Huawei is believed to be unconnected to the ongoing trade tussle between China and the US, but security threat is been used as an excuse to axe the mobile phone giant who only trails Samsung as the second largest phone maker in the world.
Since the ban on Huawei was declared by the U.S. Commerce Department, analyst had expected that China would reciprocate with sanctions of same measure against U.S. tech firms, and Apple which is a major US company is believed to likely be on the receiving end. But Beijing is yet to make a move. However, if China does decides to make such move, it turns out that Huawei’s founder Ren Zhengfei won't applaud the move but will instead, be the first to protest according to a report by Bloomberg.
Zhengfei who previously said members of his family also use Apple products, said he would protest a ban against Apple even referring to the US Tech giant as "my teacher".
“That will not happen, first of all. And second of all, if that happens, I’ll be the first to protest,” Ren was quoted as saying.
“Apple is my teacher, it’s in the lead. As a student, why go against my teacher? Never.”
On allegations of technology theft, Ren said, “I stole the American technologies from tomorrow. The U.S. doesn’t even have those technologies,” he told Bloomberg.
Speaking further, he said that there would be no reason for the US President Donald Trump to attack Huawei if it were behind the U.S.
